The Focolare is an ecclesial movement, working for unity in all spheres of life, inspired by the words of Jesus ”Father, may they all be one”(Jn 17:21). Our name comes from the Italian for ‘family hearth’ reflecting our desire to gather in the warmth and unity of God’s love. Begun in Italy in 1943 by Chiara Lubich it is now a global movement of people of all ages and backgrounds who endeavour to put the gospel into the Gospel into practice in everyday life.
