I am Mrs. Marna Clarke and am responsible for the co-ordination of all matters relating to the Approval of teachers to work in the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh.  This role involves:

  • liaising with each of the Church Representatives in each Authority.
  • Working in collaboration with staffing and personnel in each Authority.
  • Advising teachers and clergy on procedures involved in acquiring approval.
  • Ensuring that each teacher’s application for approval is handled as speedily as possible.

As a retired Principal Teacher of Guidance, my role is to encourage young people to consider teaching as a career

I work from the Religious Education Office at the Gillis Centre and am available to meet with individuals or groups of students to discuss teaching as a worthwhile career.

I am also involved in:

  • Promoting teaching and encouraging senior pupils to consider teaching as a career choice.
  • Liaising with Edinburgh University Faculty of Education
  • Liaising with Glasgow University Faculty of Education
  • Meeting with graduating students at the above Universities
  • Meeting with newly qualified teachers during their Probation
  • Attending Careers Fairs both at Schools and Universities
